Club Farrago
Club Farrago is one of the centers under the arm of the RSPHI and is located at the Singapore Association for the Deaf. Farrago, Latin for “assortment or medley", represents our volunteers' wishes, hopes and aspirations to make a difference in the lives of the Hearing Impaired (HI).
Set up in 1997, we’ve moved from providing computer courses to giving Basic Chinese Courses (CC1, CC2 and CC3) to the HIs, in view of enabling them to write and comprehend simple Chinese that they come across in their daily lives. Our Chinese Courses are conducted in lecture-style with volunteers attached to our students to mentor them. During lessons, we also play games to facilitate learning and interaction.
Besides Chinese Courses, we also organise a variety of activities, such as our annual event, "HI! Singapore", which range from Amazing Race in 2005 and 2006, Signation Sign Language Workshop in 2007 and HI T.E.A in 2008. We aim to provide a new experience for the HIs and also a platform for them to make new friends and learn new skills. The event salso serve to let volunteers have a taste of organising and planning projects as well as working in teams.
Currently, in 2008, we are organising a new photography programme called PhotograpHI.
